What I Do
I provide AI consulting, implementation, training, and project support for energy organisations.
I work remotely from New Zealand, which helps keep costs reasonable. I offer flexible pricing arrangements, including a "Pay What Feels Right" option for some projects.

Consulting
I help organisations understand their options and find approaches that fit their situation. Nearly four decades of engineering experience means I assess AI opportunities from a practical standpoint — what will actually work in your operating environment.
This might include:
- Assessing readiness — Understanding where you are now
- Planning — Developing a practical approach
- Identifying use cases — Finding applications that could be useful
- Honest guidance — Providing straightforward advice
"My aim is to help you and your organisation develop in whatever direction makes sense for you."
Implementation
Beyond advice, I can help build and deploy AI systems that work with your existing infrastructure.
Areas I work in:
- Document systems — Working with technical content
- AI assistants — Tools configured for your domain
- Self-hosted AI — Systems that keep data on your infrastructure
- Workflow integration — Connecting AI with existing processes
I often use open-source tools like AnythingLLM, Ollama, and n8n, which can offer flexibility and control.

Training
I offer training to help teams develop practical AI skills. I hold a Bachelor of Education and a Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment. At ABB I wrote and delivered training courses on UPS systems, batteries, and power electronics to 42 business units worldwide.
My approach to training:
- Hands-on — Working with real tools and scenarios
- Adaptable — Adjustable to your organisation's context
- Flexible delivery — Live sessions, self-paced, or combined
- Practical focus — Building skills that can be applied
Topics include prompt engineering, RAG system basics, AI workflow automation, and practical tool usage for energy professionals.

Project Support
I can engage early in your project lifecycle — during planning or early implementation — to help build appropriate foundations.
Project support services:
- Proposal support — Helping strengthen bids with AI components
- Technical planning — Designing systems that can grow
- Integration guidance — Connecting AI with existing workflows
- Ongoing assistance — Supporting systems as they evolve
Early engagement often leads to better outcomes.
